Founded in 1985 Elda Trade (El and Da being the initials of its founders Elio and David who are also the current directors) began its operation trading leather scraps; such material was generally used for small leather goods, sandals and in particular for bags.

A passionate relationship thus developed and after a few months of manufacturing it was clear to all involved they had caught the infamous bag business illness; Italian creativity was unleashed and this, in turn, allowed for some truly outstanding bag styles to be made.

Within a few years we were among the leading producers of paetchwork design and our creations are still asked for today despite the general decline in this sector of the market. By 1990 we already introduced new and refreshing lines made in either all leather or syntetic combinations which today mainly appeal to the export market. It is true to say that 4/5 of turnover derives from export business.

In addition to Italian production we have introduced Far East and eastern European making. Presently we trade under two brands: "Gianni Conti" and "Alex & Co."

"Gianni Conti" represents a medium/high product, clients in the main are leather goods specialists and department stores including John Lewis - UK and El Corte Ingle - Spain.
